JA1. Future of Mobile Application Development¶
Statement¶
What do you think will the future of mobile application development be? How will mobile apps benefit businesses across the globe in the competitive market with the use of AI and IoT Technology?
Solution¶
The future of mobile application development is promising. The number of mobile devices is on the rise and humans get more attached to their device as it help in daily life and connects them to other mobile devices like watches, wearables, and smart home componentsOn the other hand, the competition for user screen time is increasing, with many apps trying to trap the user on their applications as long as possible.
The severe competition in the mobile application market is pushing towards multi purpose applications, that is, an application that does more than one thing. For example, a social media application that also allows the user to shop online, or a messaging application that also allows the user to play games. This is a trend that is already happening, and it will continue to grow in the future.
The Multi purpose applications will lead to few applications dominating the user screen time, and need to create extensions that work within those apps environment will increase. For example, instead of building an application targeting a platform like Android or iOS, developers will build extensions that work within the Facebook or WhatsApp environment (regardless of the platform).
The fragmentation of platform versions is being reduced, and the number of devices that support the latest version of the platform is increasing. This will allow developers to develop Native apps that targets the latest versions and features without worrying about supporting older versions.
The Web APIs are getting more powerful and feature rich, that it almost can do anything that a native application can do. With the access to device hardware ans sensors, appropriate caching and offline support, and the ability to install the web application on the device home screen.
The improvements in Web APIs competes with native development as Hybrid and Progressive Web Applications are getting more popular, as companies usually have a web based platforms, and reusable code between the web and mobile applications is a big advantage.
As sensors and IoT devices are getting more popular, and more powerful (require less power, and can be smaller), these devices can be integrated into mobiles and other wearables constantly streaming data to servers on the cloud.
The availability of high volume of data from sensors and IoT devices make AI models more accurate and intelligent in analyzing user behavior and predicting their needs which will lead to more personalized user experience and more informed shift towards the right direction.
The mobile development industry was always flexible and fast to adapt to new technologies and trends, including new frameworks or platforms. This will continue to be the case in the future, and the mobile development industry will continue to grow and evolve, but with insights of more data being streamed from IoT devices, and more powerful AI models to analyze this data and predict user behavior.
